Spring is the perfect time to hit the trails and explore the beauty of the Great Allegheny Passage (GAP)—a 150-mile stretch of scenic biking and hiking trails that winds through Pennsylvania and Maryland. With warmer weather, blooming landscapes, and the fresh scent of adventure in the air, my boys and I geared up for an unforgettable ride along this legendary trail.
Gearing Up for the Ride
Before setting off, we made sure we had the right gear. At Four Seasons Powersports, we found everything we needed, from high-performance bikes and helmets to riding apparel and accessories. A well-equipped ride is key to enjoying the journey without hiccups!

The Trail Experience: Breathtaking Scenery & Unforgettable Moments
🚴 Cumberland to Ohiopyle: Our journey began in Cumberland, MD, riding along the gentle inclines of the GAP. As we passed through Frostburg and Meyersdale, we marveled at the historic bridges, tunnels, and viaducts. One of the highlights was crossing the Salisbury Viaduct, which offered breathtaking views of the Casselman River Valley.
🌿 Ohiopyle State Park: Arriving at Ohiopyle, we took a break to explore the famous waterfalls and rapid-filled Youghiogheny River. The boys had a blast watching kayakers take on the rushing waters while we refueled with some trail snacks.
🏕️ Camping Under the Stars: After a long ride, we set up camp at a nearby bike-friendly campground. Sitting around the fire, sharing stories, and roasting marshmallows was the perfect way to end the day.
